Vocal Choirs

 

Chancel Choir: This high school and adult choir sings a variety of music from classical to contemporary. The Chancel Choir sings at the 9:15 service each Sunday, September through June. They also enjoy singing at various special services and concerts throughout the year. The only requirements for joining the Chancel Choir are the desire to praise God through music, the ability to carry a tune, and the desire to have fun every week.

Rehearsals:  Tuesdays from 7:30 PM until 9:00 PM.

Cherub Choir: The Cherub Choir is for children in Kindergarten and First grade. The children learn songs, rhythms, movement, and musical games. They are introduced to ways of incorporating these skills into worship. The Cherub Choir participates in worship several times a year along with the annual Christmas concert and the LOGOS Spring musical.

Rehearsals: Wednesdays at 4:30 PM until 5:15 PM, as part of the LOGOS program.

Jubilee Choir: The Jubilee Choir is for children in Second and Third grades. The children learn the basics of music and singing as well as how to be worship leaders. The Jubilee Choir sings during worship services several times a year. They also take part in the Christmas concert, the 4:30 PM Christmas Eve service, and the LOGOS Spring musical.

Rehearsals: Wednesdays at 4:30 PM until 5:15 PM, as part of the LOGOS program.

Praize Kidz Singing: Praize Kidz Choir is for children in Fourth and Fifth grades. The children in the Praize Kidz Choir learn the basics of reading music and elements of singing as well as how to be worship leaders. The Praize Kidz Singing choir sings during worship services several times a year. They also take part in the Christmas concert, the 4:30 PM Christmas Eve service, and the LOGOS Spring musical.

Rehearsals: Wednesdays at 5:15 PM until 6:00 PM, as part of the LOGOS program.

PRAISE! & Testify!: Our Praise bands provide music for the 11:00 services. The focus of these ensembles is to lead the congregation in all types of praise music, from contemporary to the old time favorites, once or twice a month. Our Praise bands also appear at community events and other churches in south east Michigan. These groups consists of vocalists and instrumentalists.
Wesley Choir: The Wesley Choir is a fellowship and singing group for anyone who enjoys singing, although no previous experience is required to be a part of this group. Each week, from September to May, the Wesley Choir sings old and new hymns, as well as anthems. The Wesley Choir enhances our 7:55 and 9:15 worship services about once a month.

Rehearsals: Tuesdays from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM.

Handbell Choirs

 

The handbell program at the United Methodist Church of Lake Orion is one of the best in south east Michigan. It utilizes the church's 5 octave and 3 octave sets of Malmark handbells and 4 octaves of choir chimes.

 

Evening Handbell Choir: A handbell choir for adults and high school youth with some musical experience. The Evening Handbell Choir prepare music for worship services and concerts. New members are always welcome.

Rehearsals: Wednesdays at 7:35 PM.

Hallelujah Handbells: This choir is limited to adult experienced handbell ringers, although seasoned musicians with no experience in handbells may be considered on an individual basis. The Hallelujah Handbell Choir plays in worship approximately every six weeks and in the Christmas and other concerts. Members also attend handbell festivals and occasionally play for weddings and funerals.

Rehearsals: Thursdays from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM.

Jinglin' for Jesus: Jinglin' for Jesus is a handbell choir for youth in Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth grades. They learn to read music and the art of handbell ringing, while preparing music to present in worship services and the various concerts held at the church throughout the year.

Rehearsals: Wednesdays at 6:50 PM until 7:35 PM, as part of the LOGOS program.

Joyful Noise Handbell Choir: The Joyful Noise Handbell Choir is for High Schoolers and is open to those youth who are familiar with reading music and are able to commit to weekly rehearsals. The Joyful Noise Handbell Choir ring in worship and in various  Concerts.

Rehearsals: Wednesdays at 6:50 PM until 7:35 PM, as part of the LOGOS program.

Dramatic Worship

 

Drama: We use the dramatic arts periodically as a way to lead worship. This opportunity is open to anyone who is interested in participating. Click here to see photos that illustrate how drama is used in worship.

Youth Worship Arts: This is a group of youth that meets on Wednesdays during LOGOS, at 6:50 PM. They lead worship once each month in a variety of creative ways.
