Stephen Ministry has been a part of Lake Orion United Methodist Church since 1983. Stephen Ministers are lay Christian individuals that have completed an intensive 50 hr training program that prepares them to provide confidential, one to one Christian support. A Stephen Minister (SM) is trained to listen, care, encourage, pray and walk alongside you during difficult times. 157 individuals have gone through the training since 1983.
In addition to Pastor Bruce, Pastor Marge, and
Stephen Ministry Leader, Lisa Goyette, there are currently 23 active Stephen
Ministers. They have ministered to people dealing with issues such as:
parenting concerns, divorce, depression, grief, cancer, and aging, just to
name a few. Support can last several weeks, months or years depending on the
needs of the person seeking the help.
