Crop Hunger Walk - October 4, 2026 at Christ the Redeemer Church Registration 1:15 PM, Walk Celebration 1:45 PM and Walk 2:00 PM Join us for the 44th annual CROP Walk or walk on your own when it is convenient for you. This year's goal is ten churches and $12,500 total. *25% of all money raised supports LOVE INC and FISH. There is a two-mile or six-mile route with refreshments available along each route.

Ultimate Halloween Adventure! October 16th 6:45PM Meet at Blake Farm Gate (located at 71485 North Ave. in Armada. NOTE: This is not the larger big Blake Farms that is on Armada Center Road). Calling All Middle School and High School Students!!! we will attend Blake Farms Haunted events that includes: A haunted Hay Ride, a 3 story Haunted House, Spooky Land, cider and donuts. (it does not include paint ball). Cost is $30 per person which is a discounted price for our group. Pay at the gate! Permission slip required for all attending. Transportation is being navigated as we see how many youth we have.

Halloween in Fellowship Hall, LOUMC - Wednesday, October 21 at 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM We are joining with the DDA for our Halloween in Fellowship Hall and our church will be on the route the children take for candy! We hopeyou will join us! We are looking for candy donations - drop off boxes by the entrance doors or our Blue Roomm #103. We plan to create many tables in fellowship Hall and are looking for volunteers to set up a table. By joining with the Village's event, we should have a couple hundred children parading through our doors in costumes! Fun for everyone!!!

Coats for Kids! Coat Ministry is in full swing - Though our "Coat Closet" has many coats, more are needed to meet the need this fall. If you are able to donate to the coat ministry, you may donate money or outerwear. We need all sizes of coats for boys and for girls - Sizes 4-5, 7-8 and 10-12 are popular sizes that we need and use often to meet various requests. Snow pants are awesome and we need more to match up with our coats so that children can join their friends on the playground prepared for winter weather. Children do best with insulated gloves that repel moisture.

Pill bottles have been collected and there are work dates for removing labels and cleaning the bottles for use in third-world countries. This is work that is done sitting down (and visiting with others) that makes such a difference to patients in third-world countries. Without our pill bottles, they would have to carry medication home in their hands as doctors receive free medicine from the drug companies but have no means for packaging. Come join in the fun!

Do You Have a Little Extra Storage Space? We're looking for a good home for our beloved Little White Church Parade Float!The float is only used once each year for the Lake Orion Christmas Parade, so it doesn't need to be easily accessible. We'd simply love to keep it protected from Michigan's harsh winter and summer weather by storing it in a barn, pole barn, garage, or other covered space.If you have room to store the float for most of the year, we'd be incredibly grateful. Your generosity would help preserve this special part of our church's Christmas tradition for years to come.

Blessings in a Big Bag (BBB) program LOUMC served over 1000 people in the summer of 2025 (80 families) with six deliveries that included an assortment of food items. Coat Ministry - Fall sales are running! LOUMC provides coats to local elementary schools and plans to continue this vital ministry throughout the winter of 2026. Plan to shop sales for the coat closet so this ministry can "hit the ground running". Our coat closet is still in need of various pieces to pull together: 1 coat, 1 pair of snow pants, 1 hat and 1 set of gloves for each child (necessary for Michigan outdoor play).
We have found that on average, the cost of these items total under $90. If you wish to contribute (any amount is helpful), drop payment in an envelope or turn it into the office - identify the contribution clearly as “Coat Ministry”.

Community Meals - The annual drive for food and contributions has ended but the need continues. If you are able, contributions can be left (mark for Community Meals), or financial contributions can be left in the office.

Funeral Luncheon Ministry - At Lake Orion UMC, we have a great funeral luncheon ministry – made possible by a group of dedicated volunteers who set up the Fellowship Hall to be warm and welcoming, then serve food for the family and do all the cleaning up after. This allows the family to visit with each other without anyone needing to clean their house or worry about how to accommodate the people who will be coming. The family provides their own food, with some suggestions from us, if desired. It’s very affordable (we charge a minimal fee for non-members) and much appreciated by the families.
LOUMC and our team of dedicated volunteers currently serve 100+ meals Monday nights from 5:30 to 6:30 PM. The cost for each event is $500. Please help continue this program if you are able by providing funds or food. Gift cards for for Costco and Gordon Foods are welcome! Consult your October LINK for a complete list of items needed.
