Easter at LOUMC - 2026

Picture
It feels like we just turned the corner from Christmas – and now Lent is upon us!

Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the Lenten season, is February 18th. We will observe the day with a traditional worship service at 7:00 pm, including Holy Communion and the Imposition of Ashes.

The evening before, often called Shrove Tuesday or Fat Tuesday, our United Methodist Men will host our annual Pancake Dinner from 5:30-7:00. The free will offering taken up for the dinner will be used by UMM to provide for local ministries including the Community Assistance Fund and the Community Meals we plan to cook, host, and pay for during the year.

Beginning with the first full week of Lent, we will be using for worship, sermons, and studies a book and study series by author and pastor Matt Rawle, called The Grace of Les Misérables. While based on Victor Hugo’s story (which, as you know, has also been adapted for musical theater and cinema), you won’t need intimate knowledge of the story to understand its themes: grace, justice, poverty, revolution, love, and hope.

We are, however, offering an opportunity for those of us who would like more intimate knowledge of the story to watch the Les Misérables movie together (complete with popcorn!) on Saturday morning, February 21st, at 9:00. And along with the Tuesday morning class offering the study (10:30-12:00), Pastor Linda will also be offering an evening study on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:00.

If you’ve never availed yourself of a study here at LOUMC, this might be the time! The six weeks of the Lenten season are ideal for making a short-term, but long-term impact, investment in spiritual learning, growth, and fellowship.
Praying for us all a meaningful Lenten journey together!
