LOUMC Covid Policy
Our first priority is to maintain the safety of our staff, visitors and congregation. The LOUMC Reopening Task Force has determined it is safe to resume in-person worship while still offering our streaming service.
The COVID Response/In-Person Worship Team has made the following decisions effective December 12, 2021:
As you are likely aware, COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations have surged
recently. CDC, Oakland County, State of Michigan, and MIOSHA have all weighed
in with similar advisories: "Regardless of vaccination status, it is strongly encouraged and advised
that all individuals wear makes at indoor settings until further notice."
None of the above authorities have issued a mask mandate. We observe the
prevalence of in-person worshippers wearing masks has increased
significantly in the recent past. Family Sunday School has continued its
mask mandate since the start of the fall curriculum and the vaccination rate
for those under 12 years old remains under 20%.
The Covid Task Force agrees with the encouragement of all in-person worship
attendees to wear a mask at this time. We will continue to monitor the
situation as updates are provided. We have adjusted our recommendations for
protocol along the way depending on the current case load and will continue
to do so going forward. Thank you for your faithful presence and support of
LOUMC be it in-house or online. Be safe and be well during this Holiday
Season.
Offering boxes continue to be used for collections. Your offering is greatly appreciated and continues the ministries of our church.
*Just as a reminder, children and youth are always welcome to worship with their families in the sanctuary, however, children's programming has resumed during the worship service. Nursery is available at this time.
