LOUMC Mission Projects
Caring Cadres
Caring Cadres is a dedicated group of mission-minded people from the congregation that encompasses three outreach programs. They are as follows:
-Home Visitation for shut-in individuals who need to maintain connections with LOUMC and can include communion in their home. For more information or to volunteer, please contact Melanie Kursinsky or Pastor Larry at church.
-Meal Train sign up system for meal preparation and delivery for congregation members experiencing difficult times medically who may need temporary help with proper nutrition. Contact Emily Graffeo more information or to volunteer at [email protected]
-Funeral Luncheons for congregation members in Fellowship Hall. Catered luncheons ordered by the family are served and cleanup completed by this team of volunteers. For more information or to volunteer please contact Emily Graffeo at [email protected]

Monday Night Community Meal
Annual Community Meal Food Collection Drive 2025:
This program is fully funded by YOU, this is not a budgeted item. We cannot do this program without you. These meals are provided only through your donations of money and food. Community Meals currently provides 130 meals Monday nights from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. Currently with the increased cost of food and packaging, the cost of providing meals is an average of $500 a night. Any questions can be answered by Trudy Carney (248320-4809) or Nancy Ochoa (586-243-7643). A complete list of items needed can be found in the December LINK.
*Commercial size cans are helpful. Donations should be placed on the wire bakers rack in Fellowship Hall. Gift cards for Gordons and Costco are welcome as they are used for completing meal plans.

Community Meals Volunteer Team

Our dedicated Community Meals volunteers make meals available for anyone who is in need of a meal or fellowship EVERY Monday evening from 5:30 - 6:30pm. Children are welcome. Each meal has a cost of $500 and donations are most appreciated. There is no charge for the meal.

Community Meals Welcomes Lions Club Donations - funds and volunteers!
On Sunday, May 10th at the end of the church service, the Lake Orion Lions Club surprised some of the Community Meals volunteers by presenting a $1,400.00 check. The Lake Orion Lions will also furnish the Lion volunteers to cook, package and hand out the meals once a quarter for the upcoming year, of course under someone's guidance.

Prayers & Squares
Prayers & Squares is a ministry that involves a great number of people; from the ones that create the beautiful quilts to the ones that raise prayers for the receiver. Whether you know how to sew or not, anyone can help put together these beautiful quilts that have touched the lives of so many.
