Upcoming LOUMC Events

The American Red Cross continues to have a strong need for blood amid the COVID-19 crisis.

Red Cross Blood Drive  Blood is the most precious gift we can give to another person…it is the gift of life!
In January:  Give Blood and be Entered to Win - details below
The American Red Cross continues to have a strong need for blood amid the current COVID-19 crisis.   Due to a reduction in donation sites, we are excited to announce two available dates at Lake Orion United Methodist Church in our Fellowship Hall:
  • January 21, 2021 from 12 noon to 6 PM
  • January 28, 2021 from 10 AM to 4 PM
*The Red Cross will be following the FDA blood donation guidelines for those who have received a COVID-19 vaccination.    There is currently no deferral time if you receive the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.    Please review this website for the most current information.   https://www.redcrossblood.org/donate-blood/dlp/coronavirus--covid-19--and-blood-donation.html
Sign up online to donate blood at: redcrossblood.org  (sponsor code: LOUMC1). Register early for the best available appointment times.  You can also do Rapid Pass online on the day of the blood drive and bring a printed copy with you. This will make the process quicker. *American Red Cross "Blood Donor" app makes the donation process easier and includes Rapid Pass on your smart phone.
There will be a new series of protocols observed for this blood drive. Each person entering the facility (including all volunteers) will have their temperature scanned prior to admittance. If cleared, they will be given a mask to wear while in the facility if they do not already wear one of their own. Physical distancing will be in full force.
Any questions please email Kathy Castillo at taxkat@comcast.net, including assistance with advance registrations as no walk-ins will be permitted.
***In January:  Give Blood and be Entered to Win
The American Red Cross and the NFL are partnering again this January by inviting football fans and blood donors to join their lifesaving team and score big for patients in need.
As a special thank you to donors for helping during this critical time, those who give between January 1-31, 2021, will automatically be entered to win two tickets to next year’s 2022 Super Bowl LVI in Los Angeles, California.*
Super Bowl Details available at https://www.redcrossblood.org/local-homepage/events/super_bowl.html
*Visitors can find the blood drive in Fellowship Hall by parking in our lot on South Anderson (west side of building) adjacent to the church and entering the door located by the parking lot. The Red Cross signs will be present.
