Sunday, August 23 at 7:00 PM: LOUMC presents Mitch McVicker in concert. Singer/Songwriter Christian Music Artist, Mitch McVicker’s vocational musical journey began by working with the late, great Rich Mullins. They performed concerts and wrote songs together. Shortly after a car wreck killed Mullins and badly injured McVicker, a song the two penned together, “My Deliverer,” received the GMA Dove Award for song of the year...all while Mitch was going through a lengthy and difficult process of recovering from his injuries.
McVicker titled his new album Where the Earth Makes No Sound reflecting his belief that God’s involvement in our lives surrounds us from every angle. It is infinite and boundless. When sound is not present, some find refuge in the silence. At the same time, others long for the silence to be broken.

Blessings in a Big Bag is now in full swing! - BBB is coming to a close! There is one last delivery on August 12,2026. Our final donation request is for peanut butter & Jelly, cereal, tuna, pasta and pasta sauce so that we can support the food needs of our families. There will not be additional requests until January 2027 and we thank you for all your generous support!

Do You Have a Little Extra Storage Space? We're looking for a good home for our beloved Little White Church Parade Float!The float is only used once each year for the Lake Orion Christmas Parade, so it doesn't need to be easily accessible. We'd simply love to keep it protected from Michigan's harsh winter and summer weather by storing it in a barn, pole barn, garage, or other covered space.If you have room to store the float for most of the year, we'd be incredibly grateful. Your generosity would help preserve this special part of our church's Christmas tradition for years to come.

LOUMC’s Livin' in The Mitten Dinner and Auction - September 19, 2026, 5:00–8:00 p.m. at the Legacy Center in Oxford. Following dinner, attendees will have the opportunity to bid on events, experiences, and services donated by members of the congregation. The primary purpose of this event is to strengthen relationships and build community within our congregation, while also raising funds to support the church’s missions and programming.

Recycling Pill Bottles for Those in Need
Pill bottles have been collected and there are work dates for removing labels and cleaning the bottles for use in third-world countries. This is work that is done sitting down (and visiting with others) that makes such a difference to patients in third-world countries. Without our pill bottles, they would have to carry medication home in their hands as doctors receive free medicine from the drug companies but have no means for packaging. Come join in the fun!
Our next work dates run from 10 AM to 12 PM and will continue again this fall.
Location for this group effort is LOUMC Missions Room 109. Enter the church through the Slater Street location and follow the signs. Bring a Friend!

Blessings in a Big Bag (BBB) program LOUMC served over 1000 people in the summer of 2025 (80 families) with six deliveries that included an assortment of food items. Coat Ministry - Winter sales are running! LOUMC provides coats to local elementary schools and plans to continue this vital ministry throughout the winter of 2026. Plan to shop sales for the coat closet so this ministry can "hit the ground running". Our coat closet is still in need of various pieces to pull together: 1 coat, 1 pair of snow pants, 1 hat and 1 set of gloves for each child (necessary for Michigan outdoor play).
We have found that on average, the cost of these items total under $90. If you wish to contribute (any amount is helpful), drop payment in an envelope or turn it into the office - identify the contribution clearly as “Coat Ministry”.

Community Meals - The annual drive for food and contributions has ended but the need continues. If you are able, contributions can be left (mark for Community Meals), or financial contributions can be left in the office.

Funeral Luncheon Ministry - At Lake Orion UMC, we have a great funeral luncheon ministry – made possible by a group of dedicated volunteers who set up the Fellowship Hall to be warm and welcoming, then serve food for the family and do all the cleaning up after. This allows the family to visit with each other without anyone needing to clean their house or worry about how to accommodate the people who will be coming. The family provides their own food, with some suggestions from us, if desired. It’s very affordable (we charge a minimal fee for non-members) and much appreciated by the families.
